REP. VICKREY SELECTED FOR EMERGING LEADERS PROGRAM

Topeka – Kansas Speaker of the House of Representatives Melvin Neufeld (R-Ingalls) announced today Rep. Jene Vickrey (R-Louisburg) will be one of 50 legislators nationwide to participate in the State Legislative Leaders Foundation’s Program for Emerging Political Leaders.

“I nominated Rep. Vickrey for this prestigious program because of the great leadership he displayed this last year as Assistant House Majority Leader,” Speaker Neufeld said.  “I was especially pleased with how closely he worked with the new House Members and assisted them during their first legislative session.”

The Program for Emerging Political Leaders is designed to enhance the leadership potential and vision of policymakers who are likely to be at the helm of tomorrow’s legislatures.

“I am excited to participate in a program that will help prepare me to better serve not only my fellow Representatives but also those I represent,” Rep. Vickrey said.  “Our state faces some extraordinary challenges in the coming years.  I believe this program will provide insight and strategies that will help answer those challenges.”

The State Legislative Leaders Foundation and the Darden Graduate School of Business at the University of Virginia will host this year’s program on the UVA campus in Charlottesville from July 16th to 19th.
