House Leadership Announces New Legislative Website
House Leadership Announces
New Legislative Website
IMMEDIATE RELEASE
March 2, 2007
TOPEKA – Kansas House Republicans have launched a new legislative website, www.kansashouse.org so Kansans can track the work being done under the dome.
“Following the legislative process can be difficult,” said House Speaker Melvin Neufeld. “This site helps Kansas voters understand who their Representatives are, what he or she has been working on during session and how the process works in Topeka”.
The site provides daily updates about committee activity, recent action taken by House Members as well as general descriptions of House Leadership positions.
“We are excited about providing this new tool for people back home,” said Majority Leader Merrick. “With the click of a mouse, constituents can discover how lawmakers are spending their time in Topeka by reading their news releases, viewing their committee schedules or reading about the views of the Caucus. I hope this promotes voter input and participation in our legislative process and increases understanding about the function of our state Government”.
Web users also can sign up for legislative updates as well as check to see when their representatives’ next public meeting is scheduled.
“We know Kansans are busy but still want to stay in touch with the people they elect,” said Speaker Pro Tem Don Dahl. “This website will provide easy access for them to do just that.”
This is the first website created and maintained by the top three Republican Leadership offices.
