REP. MAST NAMED TO INTERIM COMMITTEE
Topeka – Kansas Speaker of the House of Representatives Melvin Neufeld (R-Ingalls) announced today he has named Rep. Peggy Mast (R-Emporia) to the 2007 Financial Institutions and Insurance Interim Committee.
“As the Vice-Chairman of the Kansas House Republican Task Force on Health Care this last session, Rep. Mast was a strong leader in the legislature’s efforts to reform health care in our state,” Speaker Neufeld said. “Her knowledge and background will serve the interim committee well as members review and make recommendations for the 2008 legislative session.”
The nine-member committee will meet six times between now and the next session to study:
- Regulation of Credit Unions
- Health Care Tax Credits and Benefits
Rep. Mast said she looked forward to continued work on important issues facing Kansas.
"I am excited about working on tax and insurance issues this interim session,” Rep. Mast said. “These two topics touch everyone's life and I hope to be a part of the solution to some of the challenges that we see ahead of us in these areas."
Rep. Mast represents the 76th District which includes parts of Coffey, Greenwood, and Lyons Counties and the cities of Burlington, Gridley, Lebo, New Strawn, Waverly, Madison, Admire, Allen, Americus, Bushong, Hartford, Neosho Rapids, Olpe, Reading and part of Emporia. She serves as the Vice-Chair for both the House Health and Human Services and House Social Services Budget Committees, the Chairman of the Joint Committee on Legislative Post Audit and on the House Energy and Utilities Committee.
