REP. POWELL APPOINTED TO INTERIM COMMITTEE
Topeka – Kansas Speaker of the House of Representatives Melvin Neufeld (R-Ingalls) announced today he has appointed Rep. Larry Powell (R-Garden City) to the 2007 Energy, Natural Resources and Environment Interim Committee.
“Rep. Powell’s vast knowledge of agriculture and natural resource issues and his service on the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee made his appointment to the interim committee an easy decision,” Speaker Neufeld said. “His leadership will provide important guidance as committee members review and make recommendations to the 2008 Legislative Session.”
The 11-member committee will meet six times between now and the next session to study:
- Energy Efficiency of State and Local Government Buildings
- Intensive Groundwater Use Control Areas
- Distribution and Transportation of Gasoline, Biofuels, and Diesel
Rep. Powell represents the 117th District which includes the Hodgeman County and the cities of Kinsley, Offerle, Ness City, Burdett, Rozel and part of Garden City. In addition to the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Committee, he also serves on the House Agriculture and Natural Resources Budget Committee and the House Appropriations Committee.
